  Bupleurum

Description:
Bupleurum is one of the well known and essential Chinese herbs. It is frequently used as a main herb for treating alternating chills and fever when combined with other herbs. Other important common uses of Bupleurum includes: gynocological conditions such as premenstrual syndrome and menstrual disorders; liver related conditions such as hepatitis and cirrhosis; mental conditions such as mood swing, irritability; prolapse of organs conditions such as hernia and hemorrhoids. Bupleurum has anti-inflammatory effect and is thought to have anti-proliferative effects on A549 human lung cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.[1]. Some of the chemical constituents in Bupleurum are rutin, saikosides, organic acids, stigmasterol, bupleuromol, quercetin, calcium and potassium.
